FMM is seeking a motivated professional to fill our Electrical Technician position. FMM is a maintenance and construction company servicing both residential and commercial clients nationwide.
Job SummaryResponsible for servicing, troubleshooting, and repairing, or installing electrical components in a commercial setting. The person who occupies this position must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of such an individual or others in the workplace. The description is not a complete listing of all miscellaneous, incidental, or similar duties, which may be required from day to day.
EssentialJob Duties
- Plan the layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
- Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
- Test electrical systems or continuity of circuits using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, or oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of the system.
- Use a variety of tools or equipment, such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
- Place conduit and pipes in walls or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes.
- Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, or components using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
- Select and use appropriate training/instructional methods and procedures for learning or teaching new tasks.
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and equipment in accordance with local, state, and national electrical codes.
- Perform electrical inspections and troubleshoot electrical issues.
- Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and diagrams.
- Install and connect wiring, outlets, switches, and fixtures.
- Test electrical systems for functionality and safety.
- Collaborate with other tradespeople to complete projects on time and within budget.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a clean work area.
- Pre‑job and pre‑task planning.
- Identify behavior and conditions that jeopardize the safety of others.
- Question the need for additional safety precautions if believed necessary for the safe completion of the job.
- Inspect all tools and equipment before each use to ensure good working conditions.
- Comply with site safety rules by following procedures and wearing the prescribed PPE.
- Never take directions or changes to assigned work from client personnel without first checking with the Supervisor.
- Attend daily toolbox safety meetings and scheduled training sessions.
- Inspect the work site continuously to ensure that unsafe conditions do not exist.
Skills & Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent apprenticeship.
- Adherence to safety protocol and work in a drug‑free environment.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the trade with a knowledgeable understanding of the craft.
- Knowledge of safety rules and regulations and ability to learn client and company policy.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and make decisions using FMM's core values of Quality, Teamwork, Pride, Passion, and Integrity.
- Proficient in computer, text, and email skills.
- Proficient in using power tools and electrical testing equipment.
- Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
- Experience working with high‑voltage and low‑voltage systems.
- Strong understanding of electrical principles and concepts.
- Ability to build and install electrical systems in commercial and residential settings.
- Familiarity with reading and interpreting electrical blueprints, schematics, and diagrams.
- Basic knowledge of frame carpentry for installation purposes.
