FMM is seeking a motivated professional to fill our Electrical Technician position. FMM is a maintenance and construction company servicing both residential and commercial clients nationwide.

Job Summary

Responsible for servicing, troubleshooting, and repairing, or installing electrical components in a commercial setting. The person who occupies this position must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of such an individual or others in the workplace. The description is not a complete listing of all miscellaneous, incidental, or similar duties, which may be required from day to day.

Job Duties
  • Plan the layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
  • Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
  • Test electrical systems or continuity of circuits using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, or oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of the system.
  • Use a variety of tools or equipment, such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment.
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
  • Place conduit and pipes in walls or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, or components using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
  • Select and use appropriate training/instructional methods and procedures for learning or teaching new tasks.
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and equipment in accordance with local, state, and national electrical codes.
  • Perform electrical inspections and troubleshoot electrical issues.
  • Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and diagrams.
  • Install and connect wiring, outlets, switches, and fixtures.
  • Test electrical systems for functionality and safety.
  • Collaborate with other tradespeople to complete projects on time and within budget.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a clean work area.
  • Pre‑job and pre‑task planning.
  • Identify behavior and conditions that jeopardize the safety of others.
  • Question the need for additional safety precautions if believed necessary for the safe completion of the job.
  • Inspect all tools and equipment before each use to ensure good working conditions.
  • Comply with site safety rules by following procedures and wearing the prescribed PPE.
  • Never take directions or changes to assigned work from client personnel without first checking with the Supervisor.
  • Attend daily toolbox safety meetings and scheduled training sessions.
  • Inspect the work site continuously to ensure that unsafe conditions do not exist.
Required

Skills & Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent apprenticeship.
  • Adherence to safety protocol and work in a drug‑free environment.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the trade with a knowledgeable understanding of the craft.
  • Knowledge of safety rules and regulations and ability to learn client and company policy.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and make decisions using FMM's core values of Quality, Teamwork, Pride, Passion, and Integrity.
  • Proficient in computer, text, and email skills.
  • Proficient in using power tools and electrical testing equipment.
  • Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Experience working with high‑voltage and low‑voltage systems.
  • Strong understanding of electrical principles and concepts.
  • Ability to build and install electrical systems in commercial and residential settings.
  • Familiarity with reading and interpreting electrical blueprints, schematics, and diagrams.
  • Basic knowledge of frame carpentry for installation purposes.
