Position OverviewThe HVAC Field Supervisor is responsible for leading a team of commercial HVAC service technicians, ensuring service calls, preventive maintenance, and repair work are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards.
This leadership role is essential for maintaining excellent customer relationships, supporting technicians in the field, and delivering exceptional service.
Responsibilities- Supervise, coach, and mentor commercial HVAC service technicians.
- Provide technical support and oversight for servicing:
- Air-cooled and water-cooled chillers (screw, centrifugal, scroll, and absorption)
- Cooling towers, pumps, and hydronic piping systems
- Boilers, burners, and steam systems
- Packaged rooftop units (RTUs) and air handling units (AHUs)
- VAV systems, fan coil units, and building control systems
- Assist technicians with advanced troubleshooting, diagnostics, controls, and system performance issues.
- Ensure all work complies with manufacturer specifications, industry standards, and local/state codes.
- Conduct quality control inspections, job site safety evaluations, and customer walkthroughs.
- Collaborate with Service Managers on labor planning, job costing, scheduling, and technician performance.
- Provide technical oversight and coordination for retrofit projects and system upgrades.
- 7+ years of commercial HVAC service experience, including hands‑on work with chillers, boilers, hydronic systems, and controls.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Supervisor, Foreman, or Lead HVAC Technician.
- Strong understanding of refrigeration cycles, thermodynamics, and hydronic system operation.
- Experience troubleshooting and programming Building Automation Systems (BAS/DDC).
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and service documentation.
- EPA Universal Certification required.
- OSHA 30 Certification preferred.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
