Job SummaryPosition:
Electrician Apprentice at the Marathon jobsite in Texas, TX.
- Assist the electrician in installing and repairing electrical wiring, fixtures, and equipment.
- Measure, cut, and bend wires and conduit using hand tools.
- Drill holes for wiring with a power drill and pull or push wiring through openings.
- Assist in lifting, positioning, and fastening wiring, conduit, and motors.
- Perform minor repairs, such as replacing fuses, light sockets, bulbs, and switches.
- Maintain tools and equipment, keeping supplies and parts organized.
- Disassemble defective electrical equipment, such as motors, using hand tools.
- Load, transport, unload, and furnish the electrician with materials, tools, equipment, and supplies.
- Clean work area and restock supplies and materials as necessary.
- May erect scaffolding and assist in lifting and securing materials during installation.
- Perform other routine duties as directed by an experienced craftsperson.
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- Must have own transportation to and from job sites.
- Must read, write, and understand English.
- Must abstain from illegal drugs and excessive alcohol; consent to drug and alcohol testing when required.
- Must comply with safety standards and use personal protective equipment.
- Must have own hand tools.
- Must possess the ability to use personal judgment, perform arithmetic, read drawings, and recognize details.
- Must be physically capable of hand work, ladder and scaffold use, reaching, bending, crouching, and lifting.
- A valid Texas driver’s license is preferred; a state or government-issued acceptable.
- A valid Texas Electrical Apprentice License is required.
- Osha 10 certification is an advantage but not required.
- Assist installation of electrical raceway systems with rigid aluminum, galvanized steel, PVC, and cable trays.
- Install electrical devices such as light fixtures and start/stop stations.
- Operate hand and power tools, including band saws, drills, conduit threaders, hole punches, and wire tuggers.
- Assist in bending conduit with manual, mechanical, hydraulic, and electric benders.
- Assist in cable pulling and conduit installation.
- Properly pack and pour sealants.
- Apply knowledge of OSHA electrical safe work practices for helper duties.
- Use and maintain all required personal protective equipment.
- Recognize hazards and safe procedures for elevated work areas and lift equipment.
- Understand lockout/tagout, confined space protocols, emergency action plans, safe work permits, incident reporting, and Hazcom procedures.
