Road Laborer - Primoris Heavy Civil - Houston, TX

Job Overview

Primoris Heavy Civil is seeking Skilled Road Laborers to join our growing team in the Houston area. This role involves performing a variety of manual duties across different construction sites, supporting crews and equipment, and ensuring work is completed efficiently and safely under minimal supervision.

• Perform manual duties and utility tasks, transferring between projects as required.
• Measure distances, drive stakes, and stretch tight lines.
• Level earth to fine‑grade specifications using shovels for pipe laying and subgrade preparation.
• Assist in concrete work: placing concrete into forms, directing laborers, adjusting concrete for finishing machines.
• Erect shoring, braces, and seal pipe joints.
• Assist in the installation of pumps and well‑points.
• Support heavy equipment operators by aligning and moving machinery, verifying grades, and signaling adjustments.
• Direct truck drivers and scraper operators to dumping locations in accordance with foreman’s instructions.
• Serve as a lead worker on labor crews when needed.
• Use independent judgment to plan and execute routine tasks with minimal supervision.

• Experience in construction sites and fabrication shops.
• Ability to execute major earth moving and concrete placement tasks.
• Understanding of grading, concrete, and heavy equipment operation.

• Lift and carry up to 50 lbs; assistance recommended for heavier loads.
• Work extended hours on foot, including on uneven or rough surfaces.
• Climb ladders, kneel, crawl, or work at heights and in confined spaces.

• Industrial construction sites and fabrication shop.
• Uneven ground level, obstructed pathways, low and high elevations, confined areas.
• Outdoor climate with exposure to extreme hot or cold weather, humidity, rain.
• Noise from tools, machinery, equipment; potential exposure to chemical substances.
