Job DescriptionOperate a rubber‑tired, skid steer, or crawler tractor equipped with a scoop bucket to load materials from stockpiles, excavation sites, batch plants, and for loading and unloading purposes. May use attachments in lieu of the bucket.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Start engines, operate throttles, switches, levers, and pedals to control machines.
- Signal truck drivers to position trucks for efficient material loading.
- Take actions to avoid potential hazards and obstructions such as utility lines, other equipment, other workers, and falling objects.
- Service the machine with oil, grease, or other maintenance as required.
- Make necessary adjustments to equipment as needed.
- Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures; report unsafe activities to supervisor or Human Resources.
- Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
- Provide leadership to others through example and knowledge sharing.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Must be knowledgeable about and follow the company’s safety policies and procedures as described in the safety manual.
EducationHigh School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
ExperienceThree or more years of related construction experience preferred.
Physical Activity LevelHeavy physical activity performing strenuous day activities of a primarily productive or technical nature.
Manual DexteritySufficient manual dexterity to reach and handle items; ability to perceive attributes of objects and materials.
Working ConditionsOutdoor exposure to changing weather conditions (rain, sun, snow, wind, etc.).
Work EnvironmentRegular exposure to outside weather conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat; exposure to wet or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and high or precarious places; noise level usually loud.
