Overview
The Research and Administrative Facilities (RAF) department manages the operations and maintenance of research and administrative buildings, including both the Bastrop and Smithville campuses. The RAF team also includes parking and transportation, audio visual and event operations, as well as the exterior site operations, all of which support all the Houston campuses and properties.

QualificationsThe ideal candidate has broad trade skills and strong mechanical aptitude, with five years of experience in one or more crafts such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, instrumentation, painting, or construction. A Texas Journeyman Electrician License is preferred, though not required; however, an intermediate understanding of low-voltage electrical systems is essential for safe work. They also bring five years of mechanical repair experience, ideally with exposure to parking system maintenance.
Service driver experience is a plus. The candidate must hold a valid Texas driver's license and be eligible to operate institutional vehicles.
Work schedule is Monday-Friday, 7am-4pm.
Salary range: $69,000 - $86,000 - $103,000.
ResponsibilitiesThe primary purpose of the Sr. Maintenance Technician position is to monitor and evaluate all aspects of maintenance, repairs, planning, design and installation of all Parking & Transportation related systems and facilities, and ensure all Parking & Transportation maintenance and construction is completed timely, cost‑effectively, and in accordance with federal, state, and institutional policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned.
- Diagnose and repair tasks: demonstrate technical proficiency to accomplish assigned work; troubleshoot and repair or replace parts that are defective on gate operators, ticket dispensers, payment machines, card access systems, intercoms, lighting, and CCTV systems; repair or replace parts in light fixtures with varying voltages in and on the exterior of the garages and surface lots; submit maintenance trouble tickets with applicable agencies;
- Monitors contractors performing work for Parking Operations to ensure the institution receives fair value for its expense.
- Perform all work within established applicable safety rules, regulations and guidelines.
- Monitor each parking location daily, checking for operational functionality of all equipment and lighting; check general appearance and call for custodial assistance as required.
- Inspect all equipment assets for proper functionality; ensure preventative maintenance checks are accomplished in a timely manner; inspect the work of contractors to ensure work was accomplished properly and in accordance with the scope of work.
- Maintain assigned vehicles, equipment, tools and spare parts in good working condition.
- Maintain appropriate inventory of equipment, tools, spare parts, and supplies; keep storage areas clean and in good working order.
- Monitor and update work orders in appropriate Maintenance Management Systems.
- Conduct annual inventory of equipment and other assets.
- Complete vehicle and equipment usage logs and reports.
- Complete required institutional and other classroom and web‑based training as required.
- Assist parking staff with other duties and projects as needed.

Education- Required:
High School Diploma or Equivalent. - Preferred:
Associate’s Degree Technical or Trade school.
- Required:
Five years Experience in one or more crafts (i.e. plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, HVAC, instrumentation).
- Preferred: JRNY-E - Journeyman Electrician.
