Seal Technician

Summary

Assists skilled construction workers in performing their assigned duties. Technicians may be assigned to one specific task or may be transferred from task to task as a project progresses to completion. Tasks are generally unskilled manual duties.

Installs primary and secondary seals on oil storage tanks, installs aluminum (IFR) and repairs aluminum domes. Follows specific work orders as given by skilled foreman. Cleans tools, equipment, materials and specified work areas as needed. Transports needed tools, equipment and materials to/from and around work site. Loads and unloads materials from company truck by hand or with an assisting device such as a forklift or bobcat (must be certified to operate equipment).

Performs a variety of tasks involving dexterous use of hands and tools.

• Follows specific work orders as given by a skilled superintendent or foreman.
• Cleans tools, equipment, materials and specified work areas as needed.
• Digs, spreads and levels dirt, gravel, sand, etc. (If required).
• Mixes, spreads and pours concrete, asphalt, gravel or other ground surfaces.
• Transports needed tools, equipment and material to/from and around work site.
• Loads and unloads materials from company truck by hand or with an assisting device such as a forklift.
• Uses air impacts, cordless tools and many hand tools.
• Signals operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment and movement of machinery or materials (must be trained).
• Applies caulking compounds by hand or with caulking gun to seal crevices.
• Able to assemble parts and material that will be placed into a rim space.
• Performs Hole Watch and Fire Watch duties.

• High School or GED preferred but not required.
• Trade School program preferred but not required.
