Field Operations Project Leader (6-month contract-to-hire)

About the Role:

We are looking for a Field Operations Project Leader to lead a small crew of 3 to 4 technicians performing chemical cleaning and flushing of HVAC systems in data centers throughout the country. You will be on the ground running the work, keeping your crew on task, and making sure every job is completed safely and to spec. This is a hands‑on role for someone who knows the work, can lead people, and takes ownership of the job site.

This Pays
  • $36.00/hr — paid for all hours worked including travel
  • $200/day per diem for meals and lodging, paid at the start of each week
  • All travel fully covered — flights, ground transport, corporate Uber account
  • 2 hours of drive time paid each way to and from the airport
  • Significant overtime available — this is not a 40‑hour role
  • 100% paid training from day one
  • We currently have 30 pipe fitters and individuals with similar backgrounds in the field excelling in this role — all of whom were fully trained before their first day on the job.
Requirements Experience
  • Background leading small field crews in project‑based environments — foreman, crew lead, shift supervisor, or similar.
  • Experience with flow systems including pumps, flushing, and chemical cleaning of piping.
  • Pipe fitting experience strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with hydronic piping (HVAC), water treatment, drinking water lines, or oil and gas flushing and purging.
Education / Certifications
  • High school diploma or GED strongly preferred.
  • OSHA 10 and/or 30 certification.
  • HAZWOPER and Confined Space certifications preferred.
Skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication in English.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and wear required PPE.
  • Basic math skills including rates, ratios, and percentages.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Manage project activities and personnel to keep jobs on schedule and within budget.
  • Establish work plans and assign tasks for each phase of the job.
  • Delegate work, set expectations, and monitor technician performance.
  • Communicate directly with clients on site.
  • Mentor Associate Technicians and Field Technicians.
  • Execute chemical cleaning processes including derouging, bio‑cleaning, hydrostatic and pneumatic testing, and system drying to dewpoint.
  • Manage gross profit for assigned jobs.
  • Perform pH neutralization, calibration, and testing.
  • Conduct safety talks and monthly safety training.
  • Troubleshoot equipment failures and resolve mixture‑related issues.
  • Work with chemicals including citric, caustic, and other hazardous materials.
  • Calculate, install, and operate specialized equipment; set up skids and hoses to optimize flow and chemical contact.
  • Complete Pre‑Job Hazard Analyses (PJHA).
  • Load, unload, and drive company vehicles including trucks, sprinter vans, and forklifts.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Complete all required safety training.
  • Maintain work areas to Clean, Efficient, Organized (5S) standards.
  • Support other technicians, project leaders, or customers as needed.
  • Comply with all safety policies and procedures.
Schedule and Travel
  • Approximately 80% travel required, including overnight travel by land and air.
  • Must be available for overtime, weekends, holidays, and short‑notice call‑ins.
  • 30 to 50% of shifts may include night work.
Work Environment
  • Job sites with exposure to mechanical equipment, chemicals, fumes, and varying conditions.
  • Work performed on ladders, scaffolding, rooftops, bucket trucks, and in confined spaces.
