Position: Maintenance Mechanic MEP I

Summary

Legends Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an immediate opening for a Maintenance Mechanic MEP I at NRG Park in Houston, Texas. NRG Park is a premier facility with four major venues: NRG Center (one million+ sq. ft. Convention Center), NRG Stadium (home of the Houston Texans and The Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo), NRG Astrodome, and NRG Arena.

The role performs skilled technical work in maintenance, repair, replacement, and installation of HVAC, refrigeration, controls, distribution systems and electrical systems, often requiring heavy lifting, and prolonged standing or walking.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Assist other Maintenance Mechanics with routine preventive maintenance on electrical equipment, motors, controllers, and electro‑mechanical devices.
  • Respond to building service calls and assist Maintenance Technicians in troubleshooting and correcting facility problems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on domestic water systems and related mechanical systems.
  • Execute minor structural and mechanical tasks, electrical maintenance, and other assigned duties.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the knowledge, skill, and ability listed below.

  • Understand methods, principles, and practices for operation and maintenance of mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Properly use all equipment required for duties.
  • Be a skilled craftsman in the maintenance field.
  • Possess basic mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Know general techniques in plumbing, electrical wiring, and ventilation systems.
  • Read and comprehend blueprints, drawings, electric motor schematics, and related materials.
  • Operate, maintain, and repair HVAC equipment effectively.
  • Follow all safety precautions, building codes, and emergency procedures.
  • Work effectively under pressure and stringent schedules to produce accurate results.
  • Work independently, exercising judgment and initiative.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with clients, employees, exhibitors, patrons, and others.
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Interpret extensive technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
  • Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
  • Follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
  • Uphold Legends Global safety standards.
  • Be available for on‑call, after‑hours, holiday, and weekend support.
  • Work extended and/or irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
Education And/or Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required, or 2 years of comparable experience plus required related experience may be considered in lieu of diploma.
  • Required:

    EPA Certification TYPE I, II, or III.
  • Preferred:
    Technical training in HVAC;
    Apprentice Electricians License; EPA Universal Certification.
  • Required:

    Two (2) years’ experience operating and maintaining building mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire and life safety related experience.
  • Preferred:
    Experience operating Genie Lift, Forklift, JLG Boom‑lift, Man‑Lifts, and other motorized lifting equipment.
Skills And Abilities
  • Good written, verbal, and computer skills.
  • Remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur.
  • Work in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication required.
  • Provide exceptional customer service.
  • Effectively work with others.
Computer Skills
  • Operate standard office equipment and personal computers using Outlook, MS Windows, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Working knowledge of Building Automation Systems is a plus.
Other Qualifications
  • Be licensed to operate a motor vehicle in the United States.
  • Possess any licenses, certificates, or training required by local, state, or national authorities for operating the facility equipment.
Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those necessary to perform this job’s essential functions.

  • Must be able to lift 75 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand and work on feet for 8–10 hours a day.
  • Must be able to stretch and reach.
