Position: Maintenance Mechanic MEP I

Summary

Legends Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an immediate opening for a Maintenance Mechanic MEP I at NRG Park in Houston, Texas. NRG Park is a premier facility with four major venues: NRG Center, NRG Stadium (home of the Houston Texans and the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo), NRG Astrodome, and NRG Arena. The role is part of the Engineering team and involves skilled technical work in the maintenance, repair, replacement, and installation of heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, controls, distribution, and electrical systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist other Maintenance Mechanics in performing routine preventive maintenance on electrical equipment, motors, controllers, and electro‑mechanical devices.
  • Respond to building service calls and assist Maintenance Technicians in troubleshooting problems within the facility and taking corrective action.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on domestic water systems and related mechanical systems.
  • Perform minor structural, mechanical, and electrical tasks and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Understand methods, principles, and practices for the operation and maintenance of mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Use all necessary equipment to perform required duties.
  • Be a skilled craftsman in the maintenance field with basic mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Know general techniques in plumbing, electrical wiring, and ventilating systems.
  • Read and comprehend blueprints, drawings, motor schematics, and related materials.
  • Operate, maintain, and repair HVAC equipment.
  • Follow safety precautions, building codes, and emergency procedures.
  • Work effectively under pressure and within strict schedules.
  • Exercise judgment and initiative; work independently.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with clients, coworkers, exhibitors, and patrons.
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and manage variables.
  • Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
  • Follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively.
  • Follow Legends Global safety standards.
  • Be available for on‑call, after‑hours, holiday, and weekend support.
  • Work extended or irregular hours as needed, including nights and weekends.
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required, or two years of comparable experience plus required related experience may be considered.
  • Any of the following EPA certifications mandatory: TYPE I, II or III.
  • Technical training in HVAC preferred;
    Apprentice Electrician license preferred; EPA Universal certification preferred.
  • Two (2) years’ experience operating and maintaining building mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire/life safety equipment.
  • Preferred experience operating Genie Lift, Forklift, JLG Boom‑lift, Man‑Lifts and other motorized lifting equipment.
Skills and Abilities
  • Good written, verbal, and computer skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Exceptional customer service orientation.
  • Team‑player mentality and the ability to work effectively with others.
Computer Skills
  • Operate standard office equipment and personal computers using Outlook, MS Windows, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Working knowledge of Building Automation Systems is an advantage.
Other Qualifications
  • Licensed motor vehicle operator in the United States.
  • Possess any licenses, certificates, or training required by local, state, or national authorities for operating facility equipment.
Physical Demands

The job requires moving around the facility; standing for long hours during events; speaking and hearing. The position may require work inside or outside the building. Must lift 75 lb., stand and work on feet for 8–10 hours a day, and stretch and reach.
