Pipefitter Helper - Austin Industrial

This person will assist pipe fitters and pipe fabricators to lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems, pipe supports, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, and industrial production and processing systems. Other duties may be assigned.

Specific duties and responsibilities include:

• Cut, thread, and hammer pipe to specifications, using tools such as saws, cutting torches, and pipe threaders and benders.
• Cuts or drills holes in walls to permit passage of pipes, using pneumatic drill.
• Selects specific type and size of pipe.
• Mounts pipe hangers and brackets to hold pipe.
• Assists Pipefitter to install valves, couplings, and other fittings.
• May disassemble and remove damage or worn pipe.
• Other duties as assigned.

Physical demands include:

• Sitting; using hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
• Standing; walking; climbing or balancing; stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; talking or hearing and tasting or smelling.
• Lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds and may frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Qualifications required for this position include:

• Education:
  
  no minimum education requirements.
• Experience:
  
  1 year of experience in an Industrial setting preferred.
• Certifications/Licenses: A Valid TWIC Card and Driver's License.
