Overview
Repair Welder – Crawler Cranes & Foundation Equipment – Houston, TX. Perform product improvement welding updates on steel structures for crawler cranes, duty cycle crawler cranes, foundation machines and other Liebherr components nationwide. Fit, weld and repair steel structures and machine components. Work with highly sensitive high strength steel. Organize jobsites to perform repairs and/or modifications with minimal supervision. Weld and build steel fabrications as needed for and around the Houston workshop.
Perform painting of steel structures after repairs.
- Complete successfully all required weld tests.
- Select equipment and plan layout, assembly, and welding.
- Lay out, position, align, and fit components together.
- Perform repairs as per given welding procedures.
- Able to hold United States AWS certification.
- Able to obtain LWN welding certification.
- Bolt, clamp, and tack-weld parts to secure in position for welding.
- Set up equipment and weld parts using arc, gas-shielded arc, submerged arc, or gas welding equipment.
- Handle and dispose of hazardous materials.
- Enforce and comply with 6S procedures and policies.
- Prepare for travel to jobsites (material, travel organization, etc.).
- Submit work and picture reports in a timely manner.
- Document performed work on a laptop (work report, hour report, expense report, timesheet).
- High school diploma or GED; or 1–3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in Stick and Mig Welding; AWS certification.
- 0–1 year of welding or fabrication experience.
- Technical school or welding certification preferred.
- Basic understanding of welding safety and shop practices.
- Basic weld quality.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Basic measuring and layout skills.
- 1–2 years of welding and fabrication experience.
- Experience in heavy equipment, structural steel, or crane manufacturing preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency as Level I, plus:
- Ability to pass visual weld inspections.
- Understanding of heat distortion and weld sequencing.
- Ability to work independently on standard repairs.
- 3–5 years of heavy structural welding experience.
- Extensive crane, heavy equipment, or industrial repair experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency as Level II, plus:
- Advanced GMAW/SMAW welding proficiency.
- Ability to weld in multiple positions.
- Strong understanding of metallurgy and preheat requirements.
- Ability to identify structural defects and repair solutions.
- 5+ years of structural welding and crane repair experience.
- Leadership or crew lead experience preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency as Level III plus:
- Expert-level structural welding ability.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Advanced blueprint and fitting abilities.
- Travel domestically and internationally up to 80% of the time.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver license and passport.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, or on-call duty.
Pay Range: $27.15/hr. – $42.30/hr.
