The Rig Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical systems and equipment on land ‑ based drilling rigs to ensure safe and reliable operations. This role works closely with rig crews to support repairs, diagnostics, and maintenance activities, and operates on a 2 ‑ week on / 2 ‑ week off rotational schedule supporting field operations.

DAY IN THE LIFE:
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical systems, including SCR units, VFDs, and PLCs on drilling rigs
- Diagnose and repair electrical components such as circuit breakers, panels, lighting systems, junction boxes, and control equipment
- Test circuits, maintain spare parts inventory, and complete accurate documentation of inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities
Collaborate with rig crews, Electrical Foreman, and contractors to ensure safe operations, proper training, and system reliability - Adhere to safety and company standards, participate in training, and provide 24/7 support for equipment breakdowns as required
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:
- 5–10 years of experience diagnosing, repairing, and overhauling drilling equipment.
- High school diploma or relevant trade certification required.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with hydraulic systems and the ability to read and interpret equipment schematics.
- Technical proficiency with SAP (notifications, maintenance reporting) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Experience with Amphion Drilling Controls, SBCs, and generator controls (Ross Hill/Woodward); valid driver’s license required and must pass pre ‑ employment requirements.
