Entry Level Low Voltage Cable Technician
Location:
Colorado City, TX
- Install, terminate, test, and troubleshoot Cat5e, Cat6, and Cat6A network cabling systems
- Pull, route, secure, and dress structured cabling in commercial and industrial environments
- Install and support fiber optic cabling infrastructure as required
- Install conduit and build cable pathways for structured cabling systems
- Perform trenching and assist with underground conduit and cabling installations
- Pull cable, install connectors, and test systems for Building Automation Systems (BAS)
- Build, organize, and maintain MDFs, IDFs, telecommunications rooms, and network closets
- Dress and organize cables using proper wire management techniques, including cable trays, J‑hooks, and ladder racks
- Accurately label all cables, ports, and components to maintain documentation standards
- Update customer databases, project documentation systems, installation records, testing results, and job progress reports
- Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, and low voltage drawings
- Test and certify cable installations using industry‑standard testing equipment
- Ensure all installations meet industry standards for quality, reliability, and safety
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying environmental conditions
- Work 10‑hour shifts, 6 days per week
- Minimum 2+ years of hands‑on structured cabling or network cabling experience
- Experience using customer databases and project documentation systems
- Must have Lift Certification and experience operating lifts
- OSHA‑10 Certification
- Experience installing, terminating, and testing Cat5e, Cat6, and Cat6A cabling
- Experience installing conduit and performing underground cabling/trenching work
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including digging trenches and outdoor labor
- Willingness to travel and work as a field technician
- Must be comfortable staying in a hotel during the project
- Lodging and $60/day per diem provided
- Drive time provided for candidates traveling from the Lubbock area
- Mileage reimbursement available for technicians traveling from other locations
- Working knowledge of telecom, data networks, and BAS systems preferred
- Experience working in MDFs, IDFs, server rooms, or telecommunications environments
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and network diagrams
- Must have full PPE and basic hand tools:
Hard hat, Safety glasses, Gloves, Hi‑vis vest, Steel‑toe boots - Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Comfortable working in both indoor and outdoor environments
