What You'll Do:

  • Material handling and jobsite preparation
  • Ladder and PPE safety compliance
  • Pulling copper and fiber cabling
  • Installing J-hooks and cable support pathways
  • Basic copper terminations
  • Cable labeling and documentation
  • Simple device and faceplate installations
  • Basic testing and quality control activities

Candidates should possess or be willing to learn:

  • Jobsite safety practices
  • Proper use and care of hand and power tools
  • Structured cabling fundamentals
  • Basic cable pathways, TR/IDF/MDF concepts, and cable drops
  • T568A/B termination standards
  • Reading and following floor plans and work orders

Tools Proficiency

  • Punch down tools
  • Cable snips/cutters
  • Labeling equipment
  • Drills and basic power tools
  • Toner and probe equipment

Who You Are:

  • Previous experience with network cables (Cat5, Cat6, etc.) is preferred
  • Valid Driver's License required
  • Clean driving record required
  • Have vehicle in good working condition
  • Must have working mobile phone
  • Must pass background check and drug screen
  • Must have their own tools within 60 days of employment:
  • Phillips Screwdriver Set (#1, #2, & #3), Flathead Screwdriver Set (small, medium, & large)
  • Tape Measure, Sheetrock Saw (Key hole saw), Punch Tool w/110 & 66 blade
  • Snips, Toner & Wand (Progressive Electronics 200EP or similar)
  • Kleins (linemen pliers) or Side Cutters, Crescent Wrench Set (small & medium)
  • Socket Set (3/8 drive ranging from ¼" to ¾"), Open End/Box End Wrench Set (ranging from ¼" to ¾")
  • Torpedo Level, Hammer-Touch Labeler (Brother PT-1090 or PT-1010)
  • Hacksaw, Tool Bag or Tool Box (recommend lockable)
  • Flashlight, Caulking Gun, Channel Locks (small & medium)

Physical Demands:

Work involves standing, talking, hearing, using hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reaching with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to walk, sit, climb, balance, stand, stoop, kneel, drive and reach. Skill in operation of some of the listed tools and equipment; and ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time.

The employee must frequently push, pull, lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds and occasionally push, pull, lift and/or carry up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in inclement weather conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and vibration.

The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. Working on job sites require usage of required PPE including, safety vest, hard hat, safety glasses, Kevlar sleeves, hearing protection, etc.
