Position: BODY SHOP TECHNICIAN

Body Shop Technician

The Body Shop Technician is responsible for repairing damaged vehicles to manufacturer and dealership quality standards. This position performs structural and cosmetic repairs, replaces damaged components, and ensures vehicles are restored safely, efficiently, and with exceptional attention to detail.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Repair collision-damaged vehicles using approved repair procedures.
  • Remove and replace damaged body panels and components.
  • Perform body filler, sanding, grinding, and panel alignment.
  • Prepare vehicles for painting by masking, sanding, and priming surfaces.
  • Install moldings, trim, lights, mirrors, and other exterior components.
  • Inspect completed repairs to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Follow manufacturer specifications and dealership repair procedures.
  • Maintain accurate repair documentation and communicate repair progress.
  • Keep work area clean, organized, and compliant with safety regulations.
  • Properly care for and maintain shop tools and equipment.
  • Collaborate with estimators, painters, parts personnel, and management to ensure timely repairs.
  • Meet productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction goals.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous body shop or collision repair experience required.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to operate body shop equipment safely.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures and shop environments.
  • Manual dexterity to operate hand and power tools.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of collision repair techniques and industry standards.
  • Ability to read repair estimates and repair procedures.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and quality control.

Preferred Experience

  • 2+ years of collision repair/body technician experience.
  • Experience working in a high-volume dealership or collision center preferred.
  • Familiarity with OEM repair procedures and estimating systems.

Performance Expectations

  • Complete repairs within established production timelines.
  • Maintain high-quality workmanship with minimal comebacks.
  • Follow all dealership safety policies and procedures.
  • Deliver repairs that meet or exceed manufacturer standards.
  • Contribute positively to team productivity and customer satisfaction.
