We are seeking a skilled and reliable Commercial HVAC Service Journeyman to join our service team. In this role, you will independently diagnose, repair, maintain, and overhaul commercial and industrial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. You will serve as a key point of contact for our commercial clients, delivering high-quality technical service while upholding strict safety standards.
Key Responsibilities- Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose and repair complex mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults in commercial HVAC systems, including RTUs, chillers, boilers, split systems, and exhaust fans.
- Preventive Maintenance: Execute scheduled maintenance agreements, including coil cleaning, belt replacements, electrical checks, and system performance evaluations.
- Controls & Automation: Test, calibrate, and program digital control systems (DDC) and smart thermostats to optimize energy efficiency.
- EPA Compliance: Safely recover, test, and charge refrigerants in strict accordance with EPA regulations and maintain precise logs.
- Client Relations: Communicating technical issues clearly to building managers, providing accurate repair recommendations, and obtain sign-offs.
- Mentorship: Provide on-the-job guidance, safety instruction, and technical training to apprentice technicians.
- Administrative Duties: Maintain accurate, timely digital work orders, parts inventory tracking, and daily service logs.
- Licensing: Active State/Local HVAC Journeyman License.
- Certification: EPA Section 608 Universal Certification is mandatory.
- Experience: Minimum of 4–5 years of verifiable experience in commercial HVAC service and repair.
- Technical
Skills:
Proficient in reading electrical schematics, blueprints, and manufacturer piping diagrams. - Physical Demands: Able to lift up to 75 lbs, climb extension ladders, work on high rooftops, and navigate tight mechanical spaces in varying weather conditions.
- Driving Record: Valid driver’s license with an insurable, clean driving history to operate a company service vehicle.
- Completion of a formal HVAC apprenticeship program or trade school degree.
- Experience with specific brands or systems (e.g., Carrier, Trane, York, Daikin VRV/VRF).
