Position: Painter Level 1/2/3 Day Shift

Painter Level 1/2/3 - Day Shift

Level 1 - $21.00 - $24.00

Level 2 - $23.00 - $27.25

Level 3 - $26.00 - $31.00

Core Responsibilities
  • Perform advanced surface preparation (abrasive blasting, power tool cleaning, chemical prep)
  • Apply industrial coatings (epoxy, polyurethane, high-temp coatings) using spray systems, rollers, or brushes
  • Interpret coating specifications, blueprints, and technical data sheets
  • Ensure proper coating thickness (DFT), adhesion, and finish quality
  • Conduct touch-ups, repairs, and rework as needed
  • Troubleshoot coating issues (runs, orange peel, contamination, curing problems)
Quality Control & Inspection
  • Measure and verify coating thickness using gauges
  • Inspect surfaces before and after coating for defects
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., NACE/AMPP, SSPC)
  • Maintain detailed records of coating processes and materials used
Leadership & Support
  • Mentor and guide Paint Helpers and lower-level painters
  • Assist supervisors with workflow planning and job prioritization
  • Train team members on equipment use and safety procedures
Safety & Compliance
  • Strictly follow safety procedures for hazardous materials and confined spaces
  • Ensure proper use of PPE, including respirators and protective gear
  • Comply with environmental regulations for coatings and waste disposal
Work Environment
  • Fabrication shops, skid yards, or outdoor industrial sites
  • Exposure to fumes, dust, and high-noise environments
  • Physically demanding (lifting, climbing, working at heights or in tight spaces)
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent (trade certification preferred)
  • Several years (typically 3–5+) of industrial painting experience
  • Strong knowledge of coating systems and application techniques
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and specs
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification in industrial coatings (e.g., NACE/AMPP Coating Inspector)
  • Experience with sandblasting and automated spray systems
  • Forklift, rigging, or overhead crane experience
