Maintenance Worker II
Join our Facilities team at the Behavioral Sciences Campus as a Maintenance Worker II. In this hands-on role, you will perform a variety of skilled maintenance, repair, preventive maintenance, and remodeling tasks to help ensure a safe, functional, and well-maintained environment for patients, students, faculty, and staff.
Responsibilities include general maintenance duties such as light carpentry, painting, plumbing and electrical repairs, drywall and ceiling tile installation, door hardware maintenance, furniture relocation, water cleanup, and HVAC support. You will also assist with larger projects, work alongside skilled trades personnel and vendors, complete work orders through a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), and follow all safety and compliance requirements.
This position requires independent problem-solving, strong customer service skills, and the ability to respond to facility needs in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Schedule:
This position operates on a rotating schedule that includes Day Shift, Night Shift, and Weekend Shift rotations. Flexibility to work assigned rotations is required.
As an essential position, employees are expected to report to work during emergencies or campus closures when required to support critical campus operations and protect university assets.

Position Summary:
Provides skilled sub-journeyman level work in the performance of a variety of installation and maintenance tasks in several craft areas. Works independently and may provide training, guidance, and oversee the work performed by others.

Key Accountabilities:
- Independently performs skilled maintenance, preventative maintenance (PM), repairs, and remodeling tasks. Tasks include, but are not limited to, removing and replacing ceiling tiles and floor tiles, water cleanup (including the use of a wet vacuum), moving and relocating furniture, performing light carpentry work, removing, repairing, and installing sheetrock, plumbing fixtures and associated piping, electrical equipment, various lights and light fixtures, painting, removing and installing water and air filters, fan belts, and electrical fuses, performing door maintenance including replacing doorstops, hinges, and other door hardware, and replacing baseboards and cove base.
- May work independently when making minor repairs or assist journeyman level personnel, team leaders, and technicians directly when making major repairs in various trades (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and others) with the troubleshooting, removal, repair, and installation of related equipment and performing preventative maintenance tasks. These tasks include, but are not limited to, the maintenance and repair of water features, domestic water systems, storm and sewage drains, sump pumps, and associated piping, boilers, exhaust fans, pumps, steam generators, medical air compressors, control air compressors, control air driers, vacuum pumps, and lighting…
