The Rigger role at McRay Crane & Rigging, Inc. is a full-time, on-site position located in Greater Houston. The Rigger is responsible for safely setting up, attaching, and securing loads for crane and forklift operations, following all safety standards and load charts. Day-to-day tasks include inspecting rigging equipment, selecting appropriate slings and hardware, signaling and communicating with crane operators, and assisting with bull rigging and hauling activities.
The role also involves maintaining a clean and organized work area, performing basic equipment checks, and collaborating with team members to complete lifting operations efficiently and safely.
- Strong understanding of rigging principles, load calculations, and proper use of slings, shackles, and other rigging hardware.
- Ability to read and follow lift plans, hand and radio signals, and site-specific safety procedures.
- Experience working around cranes, forklifts, and heavy equipment in industrial, construction, or similar environments.
- Commitment to safety, including adherence to OSHA and industry standards, and use of personal protective equipment.
- Good physical fitness and ability to lift, carry, and maneuver heavy materials and equipment in varying weather conditions.
- Effective teamwork and communication skills to coordinate with operators, supervisors, and other crew members.
- High school diploma or equivalent; formal rigging or crane-related training and certifications are preferred.
- Valid driver's license; CDL and prior experience in hauling or transport operations are a plus.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime and occasional weekends, based on project needs.
