As a CBRE Mobile HVAC Technician, you will provide maintenance and repair services across a portfolio of approximately 24 retail locations throughout the Houston market. This role is ideal for a hands-on technician who enjoys working independently, building relationships with site contacts, and supporting facilities that require consistent, high-quality maintenance rather than emergency-driven service.
This position is part of CBRE's Engineering and Technical Services team, which delivers preventive maintenance, repairs, and operational support for commercial building systems. You will primarily focus on HVAC equipment, including rooftop units (RTUs), package units, and related mechanical systems, while also performing light electrical, plumbing, and general maintenance tasks as needed.
Unlike high-volume service environments, this portfolio provides a manageable service area with a smaller number of locations, allowing technicians to focus on preventative maintenance, quality repairs, and customer service while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
What You'll Do- Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on commercial HVAC equipment, including rooftop units (RTUs), split systems, exhaust fans, and related mechanical equipment.
- Service approximately 24 retail locations throughout the Houston market using a company-provided service vehicle.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and controls-related issues to ensure reliable equipment operation and reduce downtime.
- Complete light plumbing, electrical, and general building maintenance tasks that support daily store operations.
- Review work orders, identify material requirements, estimate repair timelines, and document completed work.
- Conduct facility and equipment inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards, building codes, and company policies.
- Support preventative maintenance programs designed to maximize equipment life and improve system performance.
- Identify and recommend opportunities for energy savings, equipment upgrades, and operational improvements.
- Communicate effectively with store personnel, vendors, and CBRE management regarding service activities and maintenance needs.
- Maintain accurate service records, inventory information, and maintenance documentation through mobile work management systems.
- High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 1-2 years of related experience. In lieu of a diploma, a combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Valid driver's license with the ability to operate a company service vehicle.
- Experience servicing commercial HVAC equipment, including troubleshooting and repair of rooftop units (RTUs).
- Working knowledge of building mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, equipment manuals, and work orders.
- Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
Customer-focused approach with excellent communication skills. - Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and mobile work order systems.
- Ability to work independently and effectively manage a territory-based workload.
- Ability to climb ladders, work on rooftops, lift and carry equipment and tools, and work in varying environmental conditions.
