Welder

Southwest Shipyard LP seeks a skilled Welder to support marine repair, conversion, and new construction projects in Houston, TX. In this hands-on role, you will perform structural and pipe welding on barges, towboats, and related marine equipment using SMAW, FCAW, and MIG processes. You will interpret blueprints, follow welding procedures, and inspect welds to ensure quality and safety compliance. Working in a safety-focused, family-owned shipyard, you'll collaborate with a team that values craftsmanship, reliability, and long-term growth, with opportunities to advance into lead and supervisory roles.

Responsibilities

• Perform welding, cutting, and fabrication on marine vessels, barges, and towboats to support repair, conversion, and new construction projects
• Interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding procedures to complete structural and pipe welds to specification
• Set up, operate, and maintain welding equipment and tools while troubleshooting basic issues
• Work safely around heavy equipment, confined spaces, and elevated work areas following all shipyard safety protocols
• Collaborate with fitters, painters, and other craft personnel to meet project deadlines and quality standards
• Inspect welds for defects and perform necessary repairs to meet company and regulatory requirements
• Assist with material handling, preparation, and cleanup of work areas to maintain an efficient jobsite
