Schneider Wallace Cottrell Konecky LLP (SWSLP) is looking to expand its maritime operations and requires a skilled Maritime Carpenter to join our team. This unique position involves working on various maritime projects, including the maintenance and repair of wooden structures on ships and at maritime facilities. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of traditional carpentry skills and a strong understanding of marine safety and construction requirements.
Responsibilities
- Construct, install, and repair structures and fixtures made of wood, plywood, and wallboard, adapting the carpentry techniques to suit maritime environments.
- Inspect and replace damaged framework or other structures and fixtures.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to understand project specifications and maritime safety codes.
- Measure and mark cutting lines on materials using ruler, pencil, chalk, and marking gauge.
- Shape or cut materials to specified measurements using hand tools, machines, or power saws.
- Follow established safety rules and regulations to maintain a safe and clean environment.
Required Skills
- Profound knowledge in wood properties and other carpentry materials.
- Familiarity with marine construction and safety codes.
- Strong manual dexterity and physical stamina.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
