Maintenance Mechanic

Southwest Shipyard LP seeks a Maintenance Mechanic to maintain and repair mechanical systems supporting marine repair and construction operations. Working in our Engineering, Maintenance & Asset Management department, you'll troubleshoot and service pumps, motors, compressors, conveyors, and shipyard equipment, perform preventive maintenance, and support safe, reliable yard operations. In our safety-focused, family-owned culture, you'll receive training, work closely with experienced craftsmen, and gain hands-on experience with marine and industrial systems while building a long-term career path toward lead or supervisory roles.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical equipment used in shipbuilding and marine repair operations
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on pumps, motors, compressors, and yard machinery
• Assist with installation, alignment, and commissioning of new mechanical equipment
• Perform basic welding, cutting, and fabrication for repairs and modifications
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, and work orders
• Follow safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, confined space, and hot work practices
• Document maintenance activities and communicate equipment status to supervisors
• Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to minimize downtime
