Senior Field Service Technician – Power Systems

We’re partnering with an established organization in the electrical power and distribution space that is expanding its field service capabilities in the Houston market. We’re looking for an experienced technician who can take the lead on commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and energization of LV/MV power distribution systems
.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys being hands‑on in the field but also wants the opportunity to grow into technical leadership, training, safety/quality, or field operations as the team expands.
What You’ll Do- Commission, test, and troubleshoot LV/MV switch gear, switchboards, MCCs, VFDs, circuit breakers, and related power distribution equipment
- Perform primary and secondary injection testing, ground fault testing, relay testing, insulation resistance, contact resistance, and functional testing
- Interpret one‑lines, schematics, control logic, and technical documentation
- Lead field activities during startup, commissioning, and system energization
- Troubleshoot complex electrical issues and recommend corrective actions
- Coordinate with customers, contractors, engineers, and internal teams
- Support project scoping, planning, and technical quoting/estimating
- Prepare customer‑ready testing and field service documentation
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior technicians
- Maintain a strong focus on NFPA 70E, OSHA, safety, and quality
- 5+ years of field service, electrical testing, commissioning, or related power systems experience
- Strong hands‑on experience with low‑and medium‑voltage power distribution equipment
- Ability to independently lead field projects and troubleshoot electrical systems
- Experience with primary/secondary injection and ground fault testing strongly preferred
- Strong customer-facing and communication skills
- Ability to travel to customer sites throughout the greater Houston/Texas market
- NETA Level II–IV certification or experience working to NETA testing standards
- Protective relay/control experience
- OEM training with major switch gear manufacturers
- Journeyman or Master Electrician license
- Experience scoping or quoting field service projects
