Job Title

Journeyman Industrial Electrician - Texas Electrical License - TDLR

Base Pay $38.98 per hour – NW Houston

Plans layout, installs, troubleshooting and repair, wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment by performing the following duties.

• Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, avoid unsightly hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes.
• Follows Electrical and Company Safety procedures, guidelines and work instructions.
• Prepares sketches showing the location of wiring and equipment and follows Electrical drawings or blueprints.
• Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit.
• Connects wiring to lighting fixtures, power equipment, and machinery.
• Installs motors, control panels and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit‑breaker panels in line with applicable Electrical codes and Engineering guidelines.
• Performs Preventative and Predictive Maintenance tasks on assigned equipment.
• Tests continuity of circuits to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components with testing instruments.
• Observes functionality of installed equipment or systems to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, and replacement.
• Participates in shop organization under the Plant Lean Manufacturing initiative.
• Troubleshoots and repairs faulty equipment or systems.
• Discusses layouts, assembly procedures, problems with Supervision, Engineering and can draw sketches to clarify design details and functional criteria of electronic or electrical circuitry.
• Assembles experimental circuitry (breadboard) or complete prototype model.
• Recommends changes in circuitry or installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance.
• Sets up standard test apparatus to conduct functional, operational, environmental, and live tests for evaluating the performance and reliability of prototype or production models.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are a representative of the minimum acceptable job qualifications:

• Two-year degree in Electrical Technology or related field or Journeyman Electrical License and a minimum of two years of industrial field experience.
• Minimum of five years of direct work experience in an industrial setup will substitute for the above requirement.
• Interpret documents such as Schematics, Wiring, Ladder diagrams, Operating and Maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Experience working with electronics and solid‑state devices such drives, programmable automation controllers, radio controls and metering equipment.
• Numerical Control or CNC experience is desired but not a requirement.
• Ability to speak effectively to other employees and vendors.

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and manuals, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to speak effectively to other employees and vendors.

• Ability to work with mathematical concepts and fundamentals of plane, solid geometry and trigonometry.
• Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
