Diesel Mechanic

Jenkins Transport LLC is seeking an experienced Heavy-Duty Diesel Mechanic / Shop Lead to join our Houston operation.

This is a hands-on leadership position for an experienced diesel mechanic who can lead the day-to-day operation of a heavy-duty repair shop while continuing to work directly on trucks and trailers
.

Jenkins Transport operates its own commercial fleet, and our shop also performs outside repair work for customers with heavy-duty diesel trucks, tractors and trailers
. While our transportation operation includes car-hauling equipment, the shop is not limited to car haulers. We service a variety of Class 8 trucks, commercial trailers and heavy-duty equipment.

• Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair heavy-duty diesel trucks and tractors
• Perform preventive maintenance and DOT-related repairs
• Diagnose engine, electrical, air, brake, suspension and drivetrain issues
• Perform trailer repairs, including brakes, suspension, air systems, lighting and structural components
• Conduct inspections and identify needed repairs before equipment returns to service
• Lead and organize daily shop workflow and repair priorities
• Coordinate parts, outside vendors and repair timelines
• Maintain accurate repair and maintenance records
• Help manage outside customer repair work from diagnosis through completion
• Maintain a clean, safe and productive shop
• Assist in developing the shop as both an internal fleet-maintenance operation and a growing commercial heavy-duty repair business

We want an experienced mechanic who is comfortable turning wrenches and leading people
. The right candidate should be capable of independently diagnosing problems, making sound repair decisions, prioritizing equipment, and helping establish strong shop procedures.

Previous experience as a Lead Diesel Mechanic, Shop Foreman, Fleet Mechanic, Heavy-Duty Technician or Diesel Shop Manager is strongly preferred.

Candidates should have substantial hands-on experience with Class 8 diesel equipment and commercial trailers. Welding/fabrication, advanced electrical diagnostics, air-conditioning, computer diagnostics, aftertreatment/DEF systems and experience with multiple truck makes are valuable.

A CDL is a plus but not required unless otherwise discussed.
