Harris County Resources for Children and Adults was founded in 1966 as the Harris County Child Welfare Board to provide support services for children taken under the wing of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. Fifty years later, Harris County Resources for Children and Adults still provides this support. But the now-county department has expanded services for early prevention, intervention, and adult services.
PositionDescription
Under the supervision of the Project/Program Manager II, the Special Projects Case Manager position will be well versed in HAY Center services and will provide case management support to current and former foster youths and young adults between the ages of 16 through 25 as they work toward self‑sufficiency. This position will be assigned specific job assignments for designated time periods to best support HAY Center programs.

Duties & Responsibilities- Wraparound case management special projects include providing intensive case management to address current and former foster youth's transitional needs by engaging in program intakes, case planning, self‑sufficiency assessments, wraparound meetings, and face‑to‑face contact with clients on a consistent basis.
- Workforce case management special projects include case management support to HAY Center youths and young adults as they navigate employment training programs.
- Educational case management special projects include case management support to HAY Center youths and young adults by assisting with educational events (College Tours, College Bound Experience, College Fairs, etc.).
- Housing case management special projects include case management support to HAY Center youths and young adults as they navigate the process of securing and maintaining stable housing.
- Teaches state‑mandated life skills curriculum via classroom setting during peak seasons (typically Spring Break and Summer) in six core curriculum areas.
- Participates in and attends HAY Center events and regional activities as required.

Requirements Education- Bachelor’s degree majoring in Education, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Criminal Justice or other Behavioral or Social Science
- Must have two (2) years of full‑time paid case management (including case documentation) experience working with youth in a social service setting.
- Training and experience using a personal computer with a variety of software such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Case Management Software.
- Reliable transportation with a valid State of Texas driver’s license and auto liability insurance.
- Ability to become CPR certified.
- Knowledge and understanding of adolescent/transition age youth stages of development.
- Problem solve and demonstrate critical thinking skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Interacts and maintains professional working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds.
- Ability to contribute effectively to the accomplishments of team or work unit goals, objectives, and activities.
- Ability to use a case management database.
- Clerical skills.
- Follows written and oral instructions.
- Must be responsible and self‑disciplined and work independently.
- Self‑motivated and possess excellent time management skills.
- Ability to drive 15 passenger van.

- Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. OR Monday – Friday 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. (Some Saturdays)
- Based on 26 Pay Periods
- Plus, Mileage Reimbursement
