The Refugee Services Department supports government-approved refugees in achieving stability and self-sufficiency through cultural orientation, case management, employment support, family reunification, referrals, and community integration services.
Interns serve as Social Work Generalists and gain hands-on experience across multiple areas of refugee resettlement. All client-facing tasks are completed under the supervision of a case manager or program supervisor, ensuring structured guidance, professional mentorship, and meaningful real-world experience in social services and refugee resettlement.

- Case Management Support:
Assist with client intakes and needs assessments. Maintain accurate client files. Support service planning and follow-up documentation. - Employment Services:
Support job readiness activities (resumes, interview prep). Assist with job searches and applications. Help coordinate job placements. - Case Aide Support:
Complete data entry in Client Track/RMS. Prepare client files and required documentation. Provide administrative and logistical support. - Client Engagement:
Communicate with clients in a culturally sensitive manner. Assist with interpretation when applicable. Support cultural orientation sessions. - Learning
Activities:
Learn refugee resettlement processes and compliance. Develop documentation and data management skills. Participate in trainings and professional development.
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduate or undergraduate student in Social Work or a related field.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work with diverse populations.
- Professionalism and confidentiality.
- Administrative and computer skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to work onsite (no remote option).
- Bilingual skills (optional).
- Ability to document case notes under supervision.
- Ability to support group and individual orientations.
