Position Summary
Under general supervision, the Admissions Recovery Support Services (RSS) Recovery Coach reports to the Director of RSS and the Director of Admissions. The Recovery Coach provides tracking data for the sustainability of quality case management services.
The Recovery Coach / Recovery Support Peer Specialist ensures services to help clients address barriers to recovery, including economic, childcare, employment, education, health, housing, transportation, life skills, parenting, federal, state and local assistance, vocational assistance, GED referrals, family needs, and identified substance use and mental health issues. The Recovery Coach promotes the Social Model philosophy that reinforces healthy living skills and associated values, attitudes, and connections with self and community for sustaining recovery.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Provides mentoring/individualized transition and recovery support assistance.
- Conducts telehealth and face‑to‑face contact to discuss recovery wellness planning.
- Guides participants to outreach services and community integration.
- Facilitates recovery support groups.
- Collaborates with recovery support groups, aftercare providers, churches, corporations, alumni, and volunteer organizations.
- Answers calls, screenings and schedules intakes.
- Provides transportation for new intake basic needs; jail release; medication.
- Provides support and follow‑up to participants on the waitlist.
- Facilitates reminders for new intake appointments.
- Assists when participants transition to treatment, introducing them to the treatment team and facility tour.
- Assists with the needs of Admissions and the Admissions Director.
- Attends staff meetings and training.
- Provides pre‑admission engagement and outreach to reduce barriers to SUD treatment admission.
- Reports to the Director of RSS for training, education and supervision.
- Attends the monthly department meeting on the 1st Friday, 12:00–1:30p.m.
- Meets new intakes in the lobby for a welcoming reception.
- A high school diploma or General Equivalent Diploma (GED) required.
- Active RSPS‑I status or RSPS certification required.
- Previous experience in recovery and crisis intervention required.
- Knowledge of substance use and ethical standards required.
- RSPS or MHPS Certification required from the Health and Human Service Commission.
- Recovery Support Peer Specialists must have certification with the Texas Certification Board of Addiction Professionals (TCBAP).
- Position requires at least two years of recovery lived experience.
- Must currently be involved in a pathway to recovery for personal recovery.
