DescriptionYMCA Community Impact Services is a unique branch of the Y of Greater Houston and seeks to meet the needs of Houston’s vulnerable communities. We provide comprehensive programs that focus on building human assets and fostering self-sufficiency. YMCA Community Impact Services seeks a full-time case manager to assist survivors of crime with legal services including VAWA, U visas and T visas.
Target populations to be served include victims of violent crime, domestic abuse, and human trafficking. The case manager may also have outreach, education, and support responsibilities. Applicant must be fluent in English and Spanish.
- Conduct comprehensive needs assessments and intake interviews with clients.
- Assist in completing USCIS applications under attorney supervision.
- Direct and assist clients in the acquisition of social services and benefits.
- Maintain contact with clients to encourage consistency and motivation; update clients on their case status and follow up on case outcomes.
- Complete applications for Crime Victim Compensation and Address Confidentiality.
- Coordinate client services with immigration attorneys, other staff, and legal interns.
- Organize and maintain client files and data for reporting.
- Participate in regular peer and supervisor review meetings and trainings.
- Contribute to grant proposals, reports and periodic communications pieces.
- Participate in outreach activities and information sessions for immigrants and social service agencies; outreach may require occasional evening and weekend events.
- Perform all other duties as needed and/or as directed by the Supervisor.
- Report suspicious and inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
- Follow mandated abuse and incident reporting requirements.
- Meet timelines and deadlines related to supporting systems and employee compliance.
- Providing legal and support services to 100+ clients in transactional matters per year.
- Ensuring contract compliance by completing program/reporting requirements timely and accurately.
- Maintaining reporting documentation in each applicant’s file.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
- Fluency in English and Spanish.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including proficiency in Excel.
- Previous experience in case management or social services preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage time and resources.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Team player; highly self-motivated, responsive and a good trouble‑shooter.
- Commitment to serving immigrants and sensitivity to the needs of low-income, culturally diverse clients.
- Texas Driver License; clean driving record; own vehicle; applicable auto insurance.
