School-Based Crisis Intervention/Prevention Specialist
Position DescriptionUnder the supervision of the Community Youth Service (CYS) Supervisor, and in collaboration with area school districts and other governmental entities, this position provides school-based crisis intervention/prevention, short case management, assessment, service coordination, and referral services for at-risk students and their families. The position supports safety and stability, links to services, and maintains accurate and confidential documentation in the agency database consistent with program and agency requirements.
Additionally, this position requires providing response, and debriefing support after the loss of a youth, school district personnel or a traumatic event.
Education:
A Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Criminal Justice, Counseling, or closely related field.
Experience:
Must have a minimum of one (1) year of paid experience providing crisis counseling and case management services to youth and families.
Licensure:
Must have reliable transportation with a valid Texas driver's license and auto liability insurance.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of youth development, family systems, crisis intervention, and community resources
Effective written and oral communication and documentation skills
Proficiency with case-management databases and Microsoft Office applications
Ability to engage youth and families, maintain boundaries, and ensure confidentiality
Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and collaborate effectively
Handle stressful situations with tact and diplomacy
Be self-motivated and possess excellent time management skills
Deals with diverse populations and complex situations involving community agencies, schools, clients and staff.
Establishes positive working relationships with agencies having differing philosophies.
Must have knowledge of adolescent problems and stages of development.
Must be able to conduct home visits.

Based on 26 Pay Periods
Plus, Mileage Reimbursement

Employment is contingent upon passing a background check and drug screen.
