Position Overview

The Digital Navigator provides individualized and small-group assistance to community members who need affordable home internet service, affordable internet-capable devices, and introductory digital skills coaching. This position supports equitable access to technology and helps clients become effective home internet users.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receive, return, or initiate participant contact and provide digital navigation assistance and education to individuals seeking digital navigation support
  • Interview participants using approved assessment tools and procedures to assess connectivity needs, device needs, digital skill priorities, and digital navigation goals
  • Provide information and navigation support regarding about free or affordable home internet service options and support partipants' efforts to apply for and secure service
  • Provide information and navigation support regarding about affordable computers or internet-connected devices and support participants' efforts to acquire appropriate devices
  • Coach participants on basic digital skills, internet use, online services, and priority applications through in-person, phone, and online support
  • Track participant progress, maintain accurate and timely records, and collect and documentservice activities and participant outcome information for staff review and program reporting requirements as directed by supervising staff and in accordance with organizational data management procedures and Ameri Corps guidelines
  • Connect participants with additional digital training, community resources, or partner referrals when needed, as approved by program staff or established protocols consistent with approved referral procedures and under established program protocols
  • Provide excellent customer service while serving community members, maintain appropriate professional boundaries, and participate in service-related meetings, training, outreach, and administrative activities that directly support approved Ameri Corps service activities and remain within the approved member position description and program scope

Learning & Development Opportunities
  • A two-week-long virtual orientation with the national cohort to kick off the service year
  • A week-long, in-person national Winter Institute convening with your ACC cohort - travel, lodging, and a per diem stipend are fully covered.
  • Twice-monthly virtual training on skills for service, including project management, asset-based community development, grant writing, and serving vulnerable populations, plus self-paced curricula with opportunities to earn badges and credentials
  • A structured community listening tour at the start of service to understand local needs, assets, and opportunities
  • Dedicated 1:1 support from a Lead For America Program Coordinator and twice-monthly peer pod meetings for networking and professional development
  • Access to a national network of ACC Members, alumni, and community partners
Requirements
  • Passion for community service and connecting your neighbors to the digital tools, skills, and opportunities they need to thrive
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Interest in gaining experience in community development or digital inclusion
Eligibility
  • Be a U.S. Citizen, National, or Lawful Permanent Resident
  • Hold a high school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Be 17 years of age or older by the start of service
  • Have not already served four (4) or more Ameri Corps State/National terms.
