Foster Program Case Worker

The Foster Program Case Worker provides case management and support services to children placed in foster care and the foster families who care for them. This position is responsible for ensuring the safety, well-being, and permanency of children by conducting assessments, coordinating services, monitoring placements, maintaining compliance with state licensing standards, and collaborating with Child Protective Services (CPS) and community partners.

Education Bachelor's degree in Social Work or a related human services field preferred. Degree should include at least nine (9) semester hours in family and individual dynamics. Experience Applicants with a non-human services degree must have two (2) years of full-time experience in a licensed child placing agency. Minimum one (1) year of experience in a child placing agency under the supervision of a Child Placing Administrator.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of Federal, State and local laws pertaining to student data reporting
  • Knowledge of TEA Student Attendance Accounting Handbook and PEIMS/TSDS Data Standards, TREX, Unique
  • Skill in computer applications and software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Student Information Systems) to develop or maintain spreadsheets, databases and perform word processing
  • Ability to present oral and written information in a comprehensive and organized manner in group or individual settings
  • Ability to communicate effectively and provide a high level of customer service to co-workers, staff and district personnel in resolving related issues
  • Ability to work independently and perform a variety of complex activities simultaneously
  • Ability to meet established deadlines
  • Ability to maintain accurate and auditable records
  • Ability to use personal computer, develop spreadsheets, databases, and perform word processing
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Team oriented and self-motivated

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • Mental Demands:
    Manage multiple priorities and frequent interruptions. Maintain emotional control and professionalism in stressful situations. Exercise sound judgment while handling confidential information.
  • Environmental Factors:
    Office and community-based work with frequent local travel. Occasional evening, weekend, holiday, and after-hours emergency response.
