Job Summary

The Escort YCW is responsible for the direct supervision of youth both within the facility and during transportation, ensuring line-of-sight at all times. Responsible for the documentation and supervision of youth progress while in care in compliance with all Texas Department of Family and Protective/Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) minimum standards on an ongoing basis.

Essential Functions:
  • Assist in conducting intake services by completing documentation, taking photos, and providing youth with an overview of the program's services and rules.
  • Responsible for transporting youth to court, medical, and discharge appointments as required, while always adhering to all traffic and safety laws and providing direct supervision of youth in care while adhering to the escort policy and procedures, as well as airport and flight rules.
  • Recognize escalating behaviors and intervene when necessary to ensure safety and security by applying the Crisis Prevention Intervention model to deescalate and stabilize the youth.
  • Ensure all youth-related forms and progress notes are properly completed to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements.
  • Assist in providing support with the planning and coordination of educational events and recreational activities for the youth, and covering restroom breaks, posts, or covering shifts for the YCW department as needed.
  • Ensure completion of Discharge Packet to include the Verification of Release (if applicable), Transfer of Custody or Transfer Request and Tracking Form.
  • Qualifications and Requirements:

    Education/

    Work Experience:

    Level: High School Diploma

  • Bachelor's degree in a human service field is preferred but not required.
  • At least one (1) year of ORR residential care services experience preferred but not required.
  • One (1) year of previous work/volunteer experience with juveniles is required.
  • A valid, active driver's license and clean driving record are required.
  • Must be available to travel.
  • Must be 21 years old or older.
  • Ability to read, write, and converse proficiently in English and Spanish and translate written Spanish into English.
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, SharePoint, One Drive) with the ability to learn new software
  • Working Conditions:

    The Escort YCW is required to maintain a flexible, organized, and efficient work schedule and is subject to extended work hours, weekends, and on-call. Traveling is required to transport youth to destinations located within the U.S.

    Work is performed mostly in a residential facility setting, with occasional work in outdoor environmental conditions outside the facility. Some overnight travel; public speaking, evening, and weekend work are requirements of the position. Regular computer work is also required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit or stand for extended periods; walk; finger, handle, or feel objects, or control;

    reach; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch; talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
