Position Summary:Magnificat Houses, Inc. (MHI) provides dignified housing, supportive services, and opportunities for stability for individuals experiencing homelessness and other barriers to self-sufficiency. The Training & Resource Navigator supports MHI's Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) program by strengthening staff capacity, assisting residents with resource navigation, and supporting PSH Case Managers in the referral and housing placement process.
This position combines staff training, resource coordination, administrative support, and direct resident engagement. The Training & Resource Navigator will develop and facilitate training for staff and volunteers while assisting residents and referral clients in accessing community resources and gathering required documentation. The position works closely with the PSH Case Managers, Supportive Services team, Property Management, and community partners to promote housing stability, continuity of care, and quality service delivery.
KEYRESPONSIBILILTIES:
Training & Staff Development
- Develop, coordinate, and facilitate training for staff, volunteers, and resident leaders.
- Provide training on topics including trauma-informed care, communication, conflict resolution, crisis response, safety, de-escalation, and resident engagement.
- Support onboarding and orientation of new staff by coordinating required training and resources.
- Develop training materials, job aids, standard operating procedures, and other resources to promote consistent service delivery.
- Maintain training calendars, attendance records, and required documentation.
- Collaborate with program leadership to identify training needs and evaluate training effectiveness.
- Provide administrative and resource-navigation support to PSH Case Managers in the referral and housing placement process.
- Assist PSH Case Managers with gathering, organizing, and tracking required documentation for referral clients, including identification, income/benefit documentation, housing-related documents, and other eligibility materials.
- Follow up with referral clients, service providers, and community partners to obtain outstanding documentation and information.
- Assist residents and referral clients in identifying barriers, accessing resources, and connecting them to appropriate services.
- Navigate community resources related to healthcare, behavioral health, benefits, employment, transportation, housing, and other supportive services.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of referrals, resource connections, client interactions, and follow-up activities.
- Support PSH Case Managers with coordination and follow-up to promote timely referrals, housing placement, and successful transitions into Permanent Supportive Housing.
- Engage residents using a person-centered, strengths-based, trauma-informed approach consistent with Housing First and PSH principles.
- Assist residents in identifying needs, strengths, goals, and resources that support housing stability and increased independence.
- Collaborate with PSH Case Managers, PSH Social Workers, Property Management, and other program staff to promote coordinated service delivery.
- Assist with resident workshops, educational opportunities, community events, and resource activities.
- Participate in case consultation, program meetings, safety initiatives, and quality-improvement activities as needed.
- Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations and service providers to expand available resources for residents.
- Coordinate referrals and communication with external providers to support continuity of care.
- Assist with community outreach, education, and partnership activities.
- Maintain current knowledge of local resources and update resource directories and referral information as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in social work, Human Services, Education, Psychology, or a related field preferred.
