Full-time program schedule. Day, evening, weekend, holiday, and special-event assignments may be required based on resident and program needs.

POSITION SUMMARYThe Mentor In Training (MIT) is the entry-level position in the Camp Hope peer-mentoring career pathway and may be used as an eligible position under the organization’s Resident-to-Employment Program. The MIT develops the knowledge, skills, documentation practices, professional boundaries, crisis-response competencies, and recovery-focused behaviors required to progress toward a Mentor I role. Under close supervision, the MIT provides structured peer encouragement, role modeling, resident accountability, and recovery-focused support within a non-clinical scope.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Learn and apply Camp Hope peer-support practices, resident expectations, recovery principles, professional boundaries, and Veteran-centered communication under direct supervision.
- Provide assigned residents with peer encouragement, role modeling, accountability, and recovery-focused support in individual and approved group settings.
- Assist residents with daily program structure, classes, groups, appointments, community responsibilities, activities, and recovery-focused goals as assigned.
- Learn to recognize resident concerns, behavioral changes, conflicts, and barriers and promptly communicate them to the Lead Mentor or appropriate program leadership.
- Follow established crisis, suicide-prevention, emergency-response, de-escalation, incident-reporting, and escalation protocols within completed training and assigned authority.
- Complete accurate and timely resident interaction notes, incident reports, communication logs, and other assigned documentation using approved systems and procedures.
