Position

Description:

We're growing rapidly and are looking for a Trading Engineer responsible for analyzing business processes, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. This role involves working closely with stakeholders to understand their needs and translating them into actionable requirements.

Role Overview: The role focuses on designing, building, and optimizing high‑performance trading system components for front‑office use. It combines deep .NET engineering expertise with hands‑on algorithmic trading experience, market‑microstructure understanding, and advanced backtesting capabilities. The engineer will work closely with traders, quants, and technology teams to deliver robust, low‑latency execution and strategy‑implementation platforms.

This position is based out of Houston with three days onsite (Hybrid).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Architect and develop high‑performance C# .NET trading components with a focus on scalability, reliability, and low latency
  • Implement multithreaded and asynchronous workflows for real‑time trading and market‑data processing
  • Integrate with exchange APIs and market‑data feeds, ensuring deterministic and fault‑tolerant behavior
  • Build and maintain algorithmic trading strategies, including execution logic and signal‑driven workflows
  • Develop advanced backtesting frameworks, including walk‑forward optimization and robustness testing
  • Collaborate with traders and quants to translate trading ideas into production‑ready systems
  • Design modular system components that support rapid iteration, simulation, and deployment
  • Ensure best practices in performance tuning, monitoring, and system observability

Required Skills: Strong proficiency in C# .NET, including best practices for performance and scalability. Multithreading and low-latency apps. Asynchronous messaging. Understanding of market microstructure (order books, exchanges, types of orders). Front office algo trading experience (preferably strategy implementation). Proficiency in advanced back testing methodologies, including walk-forward optimization and robust testing. Experience integrating with market data feeds and exchange APIs. Ability to design and implement modular and scalable trading system components.

Nice to have

Skills:

Knowledge of Cloud Platforms.

Experience of ETRM systems for trading. Gas/Power Trading knowledge
- Short-term trading, physical assets trading (CCGT, Wind, Solar, Battery). Forex Trading experience. Risk
- Modelling & understanding of risk & risk management. Commodity Modelling
- Energy (power, gas, environmental products) and meteorology. UI experience (Blazor). Knowledge of Information Management, data strategy and governance. Commercial skills in Value Assurance, Value estimation and Realization, end-to-end value mapping.

Professional

Qualifications & Skills:

MSc 8+ years work experience as software developer, with at least 4 years product ionizing and releasing models. Degree level in STEM, computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a relevant field of applied mathematics. Good understanding of Trading terminology and concepts (incl. financial derivatives), gained from experience working in a Trading of Finance environment.
