What You’ll Actually Do
Chevron is hiring Software Engineers at various locations across the U.S., including Houston, TX. We are looking for motivated individuals to deliver innovative digital solutions through design, development, deployment, and support. You will work on key projects and digital innovation initiatives following agile principles, collaborating with product teams to develop reusable software components and services. Successful candidates will develop digital solutions according to best practices and utilize standard tools to ensure quality and maintenance, excelling in modularity, scalability, observability, and integration.
This role provides opportunities to work across multiple areas, including web application development, system, and security design/development.
– Key Responsibilities
- Hands‑on coding to deliver functional, innovative software solutions.
- Utilize CI/CD tooling to deploy software and iterate solutions.
- Design and develop data integration and data management practices and tools.
- Maintain working knowledge of the latest tools and practices for continuous integration, unit tests, static and dynamic profiling, code coverage, code analysis, and automated tests.
- Frequently work with global teams across time zones and provide support to applications/solutions.
- Utilize AI‑assisted development tools (e.g., Git Hub Copilot) to improve developer productivity while maintaining code quality, security, and governance standards.
- Apply responsible AI practices, including validation, testing, security review, and human oversight of AI‑generated code and solutions.
- Leverage AI and automation capabilities to accelerate software delivery and operational excellence.
– Key Responsibilities
- Hands‑on development for integrating existing solutions with enterprise ecosystem (e.g., API development, Azure Data Factory).
- Utilize CI/CD tooling to deploy software and iterate on solutions.
- Design and develop data integration and data management practices and tools.
- Understand technical requirements to maintain & support applications.
- Deploy, configure, support and enhance vendor software packages.
- Implement secure‑by‑design and Dev Sec Ops practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Integrate automated security scanning, dependency management, secrets detection, SAST/DAST testing, and policy compliance into CI/CD pipelines.
- Develop software consistent with Chevron cybersecurity standards and industry best practices.
- Utilize AI‑assisted development tools to improve developer productivity while maintaining code quality, security, and governance standards.
- Apply responsible AI practices, including validation, testing, security review, and human oversight of AI‑generated code and solutions.
- Leverage AI and automation capabilities to accelerate software delivery and operational excellence.
– Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or related fields, or equivalent experience.
- Must be currently enrolled in a four‑year college or university and classified as a senior or graduate student with anticipation of receiving a bachelor’s or master’s degree by July 2027; or college graduates with less than two years’ experience since receiving a degree.
- Must provide a current, unofficial transcript with online resume (as proof of good academic standing) when applying for this position to be considered.

– Preferred Qualifications
- C#, .NET, Java, Python, Type Script, JavaScript, React, Angular, Node.js, SQL, Git Hub Actions, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Bicep), Kubernetes/Open Shift, Azure Cloud Services, REST APIs, GraphQL, Event‑Driven Architectures, and AI‑enabled development tools such as Git Hub Copilot.
- Experience with Git Hub Enterprise, pull request workflows, branch protection, code reviews, and modern trunk‑based or Git‑based development practices.
