Position OverviewThey are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Senior
Functional Area Specialist to support the design, documentation, and implementation of energy market changes across their product. This role requires experience in software methodology and development life cycle, strong analytical skills, effective communication, and a deepening understanding of energy market operations. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Product & Market Expertise
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the product's overall functionality.
- Build subject matter expertise in one energy market.
- Develop knowledge of an additional energy market.
- Monitor energy market meetings and regulatory updates.
- Document all upcoming market changes for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrate product and market knowledge through mentoring, training, or presentations.
- Become fully proficiency in settlement calculation design, development, testing for primary market.
- Gain proficiency in settlement calculation design, development, and testing for second energy market.
- Create functional and technical design documentation for market changes, ensuring clear requirements and specifications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical or market-related issues independently or in collaboration with peers.
- As needed, manage product enhancements not driven by market changes. This includes the creation of all required functional and technical design documentation, ensuring clear requirements and specifications.
- Lead or participate in design reviews with developers, QA team, and other team members.
- Provide ongoing support to cross-functional teams throughout the release cycle.
- Work with the support team to resolve support tickets as necessary.
- Balance multiple responsibilities, including market monitoring, development, support, testing, and other tasks as needed.
- Complete all required compliance and job-specific training in a timely manner.
- Attend all scheduled internal meetings, such as daily stand-ups and weekly goal check-ins.
- Clearly communicate planned time off in line with company policies.
- Maintain reliable online availability (Slack, Microsoft Teams, and phone) during working hours in this remote role.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Energy, Business, Engineering, Computer Science) or equivalent experience.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Experience in energy markets or utilities is preferred.
- Familiarity with software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies is a plus.
- Comfortable working in a remote environment with distributed teams.
