Overview
Join NASA’s premier engineering solutions provider supporting the Flight Sciences Laboratory (FSL) at Johnson Space Center (JSC). This role focuses on developing, deploying, and optimizing software for use in the FSL and other NASA HPC resources, supporting analyses for programs including ISS, Orion, SLS, Commercial Crew, Moon, and Human Landing System.
Major Duties/Responsibilities- Partner with FSL users to evaluate and optimize software development practices and ensure project success.
- Participate in planning and major development efforts on software engineering projects for flight software, guidance and navigation, and analysis.
- Collaborate with partners and external contractors to meet software requirements and address bugs.
- Mentor team members in good software development practices within HPC environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field; typically 4+ years of software engineering experience (additional experience may be considered in lieu of education per program needs).
- Experience programming in multiple languages (compiled and interpreted) and using build systems (e.g., GNU Make).
- Experience with version control (Git), containers, and CI/CD processes.
- Ability to work effectively in a team within a dynamic environment and to assist other users in HPC services.
- Proven problem-solving, task planning, and effective communication skills; comfortable working daily in Linux with a CLI.
- 6+ years of experience; software development for HPC environments;
Monte Carlo workflows and HPC optimization. - Experience with Trick-based simulations, modern software practices (test-driven development, Agile), and AI-assisted coding tools.
- Experience integrating C++, Fortran, Python, and shell workflows in HPC or simulation environments; MPI-based workflows.
- Active involvement in open-source communities; experience with Podman, Git Lab, and Jenkins.
