The Applications Developer / Business Analyst is responsible for the design, development, enhancement, and support of internal business applications that power engineering, construction, and project management workflows. This position partners closely with business stakeholders to translate operational needs into scalable technical solutions, while driving automation and system integration initiatives with limited supervision. The position will be based in our Houston, Texas office located at 12031 Kurland Dr, Houston, TX 77034 and will report to Dashiell’s IT Manager.

Employee may be called upon to perform any or all of the following functions:

• Design, develop, test, and maintain internal applications supporting engineering, construction, and project management teams.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and operations staff to gather requirements, analyze workflows, and propose technical solutions.
• Translate business requirements into technical designs and actionable development tasks; independently own solution design decisions within scope of assigned systems.
• Write, review, and optimize code using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Git Hub Copilot) to accelerate delivery and improve quality.
• Own enhancements and bug fixes for existing systems such as project tracking, job costing, and resource planning platforms.
• Design and implement automation solutions to streamline reporting, scheduling, and data management processes.
• Build and maintain integrations between internal systems and third‑party platforms, including ERP, project management, and field data systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application and data issues with limited supervision; elevate complex system issues as appropriate.
• Create and maintain technical documentation including system architecture, data flows, and process improvement records.
• Contribute to development standards and best practices across the IT team.

• Improve visibility and accessibility of project and operational data through better system design and integrations that enable informed decision-making.
• Increase application reliability and performance through proactive maintenance, reducing unplanned downtime for critical business systems.
• Serve as a bridge between technical and business teams, ensuring solutions are both technically sound and aligned with operational needs.
• Strengthen Dashiell’s internal technology capabilities by advancing development standards and supporting a culture of continuous improvement.

Required

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field required; equivalent professional experience of 4 or more years may be considered in lieu of a degree.
