The regional drayage driver completes regional over-the-road container deliveries with consistent home time, prioritizing safety, efficiency, and professionalism.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate semi‑tractor trailers on regional over‑the‑road drayage routes.
  • Drive in compliance with Hours of Service regulations, operating up to 11 hours following a minimum of 10 consecutive hours off duty.
  • Perform local pickup and delivery (P&D) as assigned.
  • Back trailers safely and accurately to customer docks, ports, rail yards, and designated locations.
  • Maintain full compliance with all Federal, State, and DOT safety regulations, demonstrating safe and professional driving behavior at all times.
  • Communicate professionally, courteously, and effectively with customers, dispatchers, and company representatives.
  • Coordinate loads, schedules, and routing with dispatch to ensure timely and efficient deliveries.
  • Secure containerized and/or palletized freight properly, ensuring correct arrangement and balance of cargo.
  • Conduct pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections and ensure mechanical issues are addressed prior to vehicle operation.
  • Comply with all DOT requirements, including participation in random and reasonable‑suspicion drug and alcohol testing programs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Work Experience
  • CDL A license required.
  • Current TWIC card required.
  • Minimum of 2 years CDL A driving experience within the last 4 years (3+ years preferred).
  • Meet DOT qualification requirements, FMCSR 391.41.
  • Experience in load securement, route planning, and navigating various road conditions.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to handle sensitive cargo with care.
  • Detail‑oriented mindset required.
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of a truck driver, the employee is required to sit for extended periods while operating a commercial vehicle. The employee must use hands and fingers to operate a steering wheel, controls, GPS devices, and other on‑board equipment. The role also requires the ability to reach with hands and arms, climb in and out of the cab and trailer, and occasionally stoop, kneel, bend, or crouch during inspections, coupling/uncoupling, or loading/unloading activities.

The employee must be able to communicate effectively using verbal and hearing skills, often via CB radio or mobile devices. Vision requirements include the ability to see at a distance for safe driving, as well as close vision for reading documents, using electronic logs, and performing inspections.

Physically able with or without accommodation to:

  • Frequently carry, push, or pull freight weighing 1–125 pounds.
  • Lifts up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequently reach for freight at waist level and occasionally above shoulder height or below waist level.
  • Shift manual transmission and operate foot pedals (not applicable on all trucks).
  • Frequently squat or crouch to handle and position freight.
  • Climb in and out of over‑the‑road tractor, 4–6 feet, 8–10 times daily with assistance of various steps and handholds; occasionally bending, twisting, climbing, squatting, crouching and balancing.
  • Conduct pre‑trip inspection for a tractor and trailer.
  • Hook/unhook various commercial vehicle combinations, manually lower/raise landing gear, operate the fifth wheel release level, lock/release pintle‑hooks, fuel vehicles and check engine oil/coolant levels, perform preventative maintenance.
  • Spend at least 5% of day standing and 5% of the day walking on surfaces such as wood, metal and concrete. Surface may sometimes be slippery or wet.
