We are seeking a detail-oriented and hands‑on international Logistics & Customs Specialist to join our Houston-based team. This role is responsible for supporting international logistics operations, customs coordination, import/export documentation, and trade compliance activities for shipments between the U.S., Mexico, China, and global suppliers/customers.
The ideal candidate will have experience in manufacturing or industrial environments and be comfortable coordinating with customs brokers, freight forwarders, warehouses, suppliers, and internal cross‑functional teams to ensure smooth and compliant international transportation operations.
Key Responsibilities- Manage international inbound and outbound shipments via ocean, air, truck, and parcel transportation
- Coordinate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, carriers, and warehouses to ensure timely customs clearance and delivery
- Prepare and review shipping and customs documentation including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, certificates of origin, and related import/export documents
- Support compliance with U.S. import/export regulations including CBP, EAR, OFAC, and USMCA requirements
- Assist with HTS classification, country of origin verification, and trade documentation accuracy
- Track shipments and proactively resolve transportation delays, customs holds, freight discrepancies, or delivery issues
- Support freight cost control, shipment visibility, and logistics process improvements
- Collaborate with procurement, warehouse, production, sales, and finance teams to support material flow and on‑time deliveries
- Maintain accurate shipment and customs records in accordance with company and regulatory requirements
- Work with global teams to support logistics coordination, SOP documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Monitor transportation and trade‑related updates including tariffs, customs procedures, and logistics impacts affecting business operations
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, International Business, Business Administration, or related field preferred
Professional Experience35 years of experience in international logistics, customs coordination, freight forwarding, trade compliance, or supply chain operations
Experience supporting manufacturing, automotive, industrial, or global supply chain operations preferred
Experience working with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and transportation providers
SkillsWorking knowledge of U.S. import/export processes and international shipping documentation
Familiarity with HTS classification, Incoterms, and USMCA documentation requirements
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities simultaneously
Strong communication and cross‑functional coordination skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Outlook
Experience with ERP systems, freight management systems, or customs platforms is a plus
Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
Preferred QualificationsExperience supporting cross‑border logistics between the U.S. and Mexico
Experience in automotive or heavy industrial manufacturing environments
Knowledge of ACE portal, AES filing processes, or customs documentation systems
