Job SummaryThe CDL A Driver is responsible for delivering TGU products safely and efficiently throughout the Houston metropolitan area, ensuring timely customer service and maintaining vehicle and equipment standards.
Responsibilities- Deliver soils, mulch, compost, and other TGU products in a safe, efficient, and conscientious manner.
- Properly operate the assigned truck, secure and load products.
- Notify management of any mechanical problems during delivery.
- Follow company and DOT operating procedures.
- Inspect vehicle serviceability and cleanliness daily.
- Wear required protective equipment and uniform.
- Demonstrate proper use of truck and sound driving habits.
- Maintain a professional and neat appearance.
- Adhere to assigned routes and schedules.
- Submit completed paperwork accurately and timely.
- Maintain good attendance, punctuality, and reliability.
- Communicate with dispatch, shop, and supervisor.
- Make decisions and solve problems as needed.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships and assist co‑workers.
- Use unassigned time effectively.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School diploma or GED.
- Three (3) years of commercial driving experience with face‑to‑face customer interaction.
- Valid State‑issued CDL Class A or B driver’s license and a clean MVR.
- At least 21 years of age or older.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Experience with end‑dump operations.
- Knowledgeable of FMCSA regulations and vehicle maintenance.
- Proven competency in driving.
- Consistently on time and willing to work weather permitting.
- Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness.
- Meets productivity standards.
- Observes safety and security procedures, and uses equipment and materials properly.
The role involves daily driving throughout Houston, navigating residential developments, commercial loading docks, and busy traffic. It requires frequent customer interaction, a strong emphasis on safety, punctuality, and professionalism. The work is outdoors, subject to weather conditions, with PPE usage and compliance with DOT and company safety standards.
Physical Requirements and Environment- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
- Willingness to wear PPE (protective eyewear, steel‑toed boots, etc.).
- Capable of working in adverse weather/field conditions, exposure to mechanical parts, wet/humid conditions, fumes, vibration, loud noise.
- Commitment to following safety standards and protocols.
