Position Overview
International Services provides facilitation assistance to all international arriving customers processing through the Federal Inspection process and manages common‑use facilities. The team ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and serves a wide range of internal and external customers, including passengers, airlines, regulatory agencies, and city departments.

Purpose of the PositionDeliver a high level of customer service to international arriving customers by facilitating their baggage claim in the Federal Inspection Service (FIS). This includes providing friendly service, directions, and ensuring all operational processes and workflows are followed safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities- Operate hand‑tool equipment to support international operations.
- Monitor inventory control and perform basic maintenance, assembly, and repairs to structures, facilities, and equipment.
- Ensure a jam‑free carousel operation and clear all remaining bags to facilitate customs processing.
- Assist international passengers through the FIS, using multilingual skills to achieve quarterly customer satisfaction ratings of 80% or higher within nine months.
- Maintain 100% compliance with Safety SOPs; no preventable or at‑fault safety accidents/incidents.
- Assist TSA with the movement of bags during peak screening times.
- Perform additional miscellaneous assignments as required.
- Ability to read, write, add, subtract, and follow oral and basic written instructions. Typical education: 9–11 years of formal schooling.
- Six months of related experience.
- Valid Texas Class C driver's license and compliance with the City of Houston’s driving policy (AP 2‑2).
- Must obtain all required badge access, including Customs Border Patrol access, within six months of hire.
- Physical capability to lift heavy objects (over 80 pounds) and perform tasks that require bending, climbing, and sustained standing.
- One year of experience using bilingual or multilingual skills in a customer‑service environment.
- Eligible veteran status, provided qualifications are met and all other factors are in accordance with Executive Order 1‑6.
The selection process will involve an application review and/or interview. The Department may administer skills assessment tests.
Safety Impact PositionYes – This position is subject to random drug testing. If it is a promotional position, a promotional drug test is required.
