American Furniture Rental (AFR) is looking for an experienced Truck Driver & Furniture mover for our warehouse in Houston, TX 77085 (ALT 90 & Sam Houston tollway).

PLEASE APPLY ONLY IF YOU HAVE EXPERIENCE DRIVING A STRAIGHT 26 FEET TRUCK.

DOT Medical Card required or able to obtain the card prior to hiring. (AFR can supply the form to obtain the DOT card at no cost to candidate once an offer has been made)

Clean background and driving records. Able to pass DOT Physical test, which includes but is not limited to pre‑employment Drug Testing (12 panels).

Must meet Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) qualifications requirements – English Language Proficiency Under 49 CFR 391.11.

General Description

The Driver/Installer will be responsible for completing the assigned routes for deliveries and pick‑ups of merchandise to be distributed among our clients. The role also involves proper installation according to the floor plan provided and assisting with shipping and receiving responsibilities in support of the warehouse department. This job description applies to residential, commercial, special events, and trade show Driver/Installer positions.

Responsibilities
  • Operate company vehicles in a professional and courteous manner while observing all safety rules according to DOT traffic laws and regulations.
  • Perform daily maintenance checks (DOT pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections) on company vehicles and report any malfunctions to management.
  • Be responsible for the delivery, installation, and pickup of merchandise from warehouses, vendors, and customers in a timely manner with attention to detail.
  • Fill delivery orders by obtaining required merchandise and completing appropriate paperwork.
  • Protect all products and items using furniture pads, coverups, and other protection materials supplied by AFR.
  • Read, comprehend, and complete all paperwork associated with deliveries and ensure accurate delivery of merchandise in accordance with customer invoices and paperwork.
  • Maintain the tool kit provided by AFR in good condition and notify management if replacement is needed.
  • Confirm with the client that all delivered items are in good condition and ensure the client signs the delivery document.
  • Inspect the facility for damage at delivery or pickup, take photographs, and notify the manager prior to installation or pickup of furniture.
  • Verify that all items are in good condition when picking up furniture, notify the manager of any damage or missing items, and photograph damaged items prior to loading.
  • Relay customer messages and communications to appropriate management.
  • Maintain a neat and clean workplace.
  • Assist with stocking the shipping and receiving department by lifting and carrying cartons and placing them on appropriate shelves.
  • Receive a floorplan, instruct, and execute the delivery with other helpers.
  • Wear the uniform provided by AFR at all times during work hours.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned and required by management.
Qualifications
  • Organization and time management skills.

  • Customer service and problem‑solving orientation.
  • Available to work rotating shifts, overtime, holidays, and weekends.
  • Ability to use basic tools such as screwdriver, cordless drills, hammers, or any other assembly tool.
  • Basic math knowledge, organization, and reading skills.
Education
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • English and Spanish languages preferable; verbal and written proficiency.
Experience
  • At least six months of experience in a similar industry, warehousing, and inventory knowledge from a delivery company or similar industry.
  • Required ability to operate a 26’ box truck.
