This position is a safety-sensitive position and requires a clear mind and diligence. The employee has the responsibility for his/her safety as well as the safety of others.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Safely operate Class A commercial vehicles in compliance with DOT regulations and all local, state, and federal laws.
  • Load, transport, and deliver food waste along assigned routes with 15-25 customer stops per day.
  • Operate 30'-45' open-top dump trailers throughout assigned regional service areas.
  • Perform complete pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, including checking brakes, slack adjusters, tires, hydraulic systems, lights, and all safety equipment.
  • Safely operate manual and automatic transmission trucks.
  • Operate dump trailers and hydraulic systems efficiently and safely.
  • Utilize electronic logging devices (ELDs) and maintain accurate DOT logs.
  • Complete service tickets, contamination reports, maintenance reports, and other required paperwork accurately and on time.
  • Perform routine maintenance and basic repairs on company equipment and collection containers using hand tools.
  • Pressure wash bins and containers after service, ensuring customer sites remain clean and free of debris.
  • Operate manual and electric pallet jacks when necessary.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, dispatch, operations personnel, and vendors to ensure excellent service.
  • Report accidents, injuries, equipment damage, or safety concerns immediately.
  • Participate in weekly safety meetings, company training, and operational briefings.
  • Use company-issued mobile devices and computers for communication, training, scheduling, and expense reporting.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional appearance of assigned equipment.
  • Remain flexible to cover alternate routes, including interstate assignments, based on operational needs.
  • Work overtime and flexible schedules as business demands require, including up to 60 hours in 7 days or 70 hours in 8 days.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL).
  • Self-certified as a Non-Excepted Interstate Driver.
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
  • Clean Pre-Employment Screening Program (PSP) record.
  • Must be at least 23 years old with 2 years of verifiable Class A tractor-trailer experience, OR
  • At least 21 years old with:
    • 1 year of verifiable tractor-trailer experience and graduation from an accredited truck driving school, or
    • 1 year of military commercial driving experience.
  • Stable employment history demonstrating reliability and safety.
  • Successfully pass pre-employment drug screening and all DOT-required testing.
  • Ability to meet all DOT physical requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience hauling waste, recycling, agricultural products, or bulk materials.
  • Experience operating open-top dump trailers.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic trailer systems.
  • Experience with electronic logging devices (ELDs).
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude for performing minor equipment repairs.
Physical Requirements

This is a physically demanding position requiring drivers to work both inside and outside the truck throughout the day.

Candidates must be able to:

  • Frequently lift, push, pull, and carry up to 70 pounds.
  • Lift container lids weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Tilt, maneuver, and roll 75-gallon totes weighing up to 250 pounds.
  • Pull or roll containers weighing up to 300 pounds.
  • Bend, squat, kneel, stoop, climb, twist, shovel, and reach overhead regularly.
  • Crawl underneath trucks and trailers during inspections to examine components such as slack adjusters and brake systems.
