Class A HazMat Truck Driver

Position Description

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL Truck Driver in Houston, TX — offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a driving career you can feel good about.

• $1,600 weekly average or more;
  Sign‑On Bonus: $2,000, $1/2 after 30 days, $1/2 after 90 days.
• Schedule:
  
  Tuesday — Saturday with 2 consecutive days off each week; 1‑2 layovers per week.
• Start Time: 8:00 PM – 6:00 AM Dispatch.
• Paid training.

• Route: SOLO To: TX, LA, MS, AR, OK.
• Tractor type:
  Day Cab and Sleeper; must be able to drive a manual.
• Trailer type: 48’ – 53’ Dry Van with Lift Gate.
• Equipment:
  Electric Pallet Jack and Lift Gate.
• Freight:
  Touch – Automotive Parts.
• Endorsements:
  Hazmat – to be obtained at interview; must have 9‑12 months Hazmat experience.
• Must have 12 months of CDL A experience driving.
• Route delivery experience required.

• Minimum 21 years of age.
• Pass a Ryder Drug Test.
• Pass a Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years.
• Pass a DOT physical.
• Pass a Ryder road test.
• Provide appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
• Must have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor‑trailer or comparable vehicle:
• 9 months experience within the past 3 years, OR 2 years’ experience within the last 5 years, OR 5 years’ experience within the last 10 years.
• Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions.
• Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies and/or procedures.

• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and agency rules, standards and guidelines.
• Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards; maintain accurate records and logs.
• Load/Unload freight or assist in the loading/unloading of freight if required by customer.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
