Purpose

The Aircraft Dispatcher is responsible for promoting flight safety and network efficiency while maintaining compliance with all applicable federal regulations, and company standards to provide a safe travel experience and great value for our customers.

Responsibilities

Exercise daily operational control of all assigned Avelo Airlines aircraft while on duty. In the event of a security threat or any other emergency, ensure proper notification of company and government officials in accordance with this manual. Encourages safety for our customers and crew through communication, continuous awareness, and attention to all details during all phases of flight. Shares information accurately, directly, and simply with fellow crew members to create understanding and build trust.

Provides for and maintains our operational objectives by ensuring safety, meeting all regulatory standards, and on-time performance. Become familiar with weather for area of responsibility including the position of fronts, areas of severe or extreme weather, or areas of low ceilings or reduced visibility. Consider weather conditions along with winds and temperature aloft in fuel planning Avelo flights and preparing the dispatch release form.

Discuss areas of severe or extreme weather in respect to its effects on the operation with the Duty Manager or designee, as appropriate. Be aware and take necessary action with regard to ATC traffic conditions flow times. Review NOTAM, station and field information for the airports listed on the dispatch release. Apply adjustments to flight or fuel planning or aircraft performance if affected by such information.

Discuss such information as to how it impacts the operations with the Duty Manager or designee, as appropriate. Prepare and transmit the dispatch release document to stations and the Pilot in Command. Keep the Pilot in Command informed, using all available means, of changing conditions and amend the original release document if necessary. Monitor all flight movements involving assigned aircraft.

Notify the Duty Manager or designee of late flights and assist in formulating plans to maintain airline schedule integrity. Assist the Duty Manager or designee in handling security threats or any other emergency. Prepare the appropriate documentation and assist in notification of company and government officials in the event of an emergency. Assist the Duty Manager or designee in notifying other departments of canceled flights or any irregular operation.

Coordinate with Flight Crew Support to ensure crew duty limitations are met as per DPM 3.15.5. Be familiar with MEL/CDL items and plan appropriate flight planning and aircraft routing. Ensure Flight Notes have been entered into operations software for flights, as required. Communicate operational issues and disruptions, keeping management, the flight crews and station personnel aware of all situations that could adversely affect the daily operation.

This can be accomplished through email, telephone, ACARS messaging or any other means available. Assist in notifying crews of aircraft swaps. Review email and company memos for any changes to standards or procedures. Request assistance from the Duty Manager, or Manager OOC, as appropriate, any time additional help is required in the event of increased workloads due to inclement weather, mechanical irregularities or other adverse events.
